Recently I’ve taken a dive into the joys of disassembling an old Sokol radio.
Who needs gold when you have germanium, right? Let’s not forget about the real gems of these radios – the Soviet-era transistors with their cute little hats. It’s like the designers were saying, “Hey, we know these transistors are top-notch, but let’s give them some extra pizzazz with these stylish hats!” It’s almost too much to handle.
And let’s not forget about the pièce de résistance – the hand-drawn PCBs. Who needs fancy CAD software when you have a steady hand and a ruler, right? These PCBs are like little works of art, a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the people who made them. Let’s just not talk about those red and yellow wires…
